Even Better Than the Real Thing

I have been waiting for this week for a long time. Though I've lived in Vegas for several years, I've never photographed one of the most quintessential "Vegas" events, the annual Celebrity Impersonator Convention. At least in my mind it's a quintessential Vegas event. It was everything I had dreamed of and more. I cannot wait to go back next year. The best part was that every single impersonator I encountered was a lovely, amazing and gracious person. What a joy it was to hang with these folks and live in their world for a few hours. Check out more photos and Patrick Coolican's insightful Las Vegas Weekly column here.

Vegas Love Stories

This is Tony and Valerie Kraft, my favorite portrait from a series of portraits I took for a feature we ran today about Vegas love stories. They have been married for 64 years. Check out the other couples here.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Best Bagger

Who is the best grocery bagger in the entire country? You can stop holding your breath, we found out last night at the Best Bagger Championship at the Mirage, arguably the most exciting part of the National Grocers Association's Annual Convention. The crowd was the best part. I have never seen such excitement and coordination of outfits as I saw at last night's championship. It was awesome.

The Four Year Caucus

GOP mania rolled through Nevada last week. Four days of candidate craziness was topped off by a somewhat confusing and partly disorganized caucus-like event last Saturday. Here are some of my favorite photos from the week, taken during a Ron Paul event at a gun store followed immediately by a Ron Paul rally at a biker bar for Filipino-American World War II veterans, a Newt Gingrich rally at a construction equipment distributor, and lastly, the caucus at Green Valley High School in beautiful Henderson, Nevada. See you again in four years, caucus!
