Part Four: Edibles of the Year
Regularly photographing food with lights and high expectations was a new challenge for me this year. Casino buffets, farmer's markets, fine dining and everything in between; here are the food shots I am most proud of from my inaugural year of nosh.

Citizen of Nowhere
Photographing someone without showing their face is always a challenge. But, it's a challenge I very much enjoy. Here, for a story by April Corbin called Citizen of Nowhere I photographed a local college student who has lived here for most of her life but was born in Mexico. She didn't want to reveal her identity, not because she isn't proud of where she came from and who she is, but because she was concerned about racist and unpleasant comments directed toward her and her family. Because of her undocumented citizenship status she has faced many challenges in pursuing higher education. I've met few students with so much passion for learning and scholarly pursuits. She wants to do so much with her life, and I hope she achieves it all and more.

Animals of the Year
This is my favorite time of the year. I get to look through my work from the past year and pick my favorites. I love it. The holidays are great too, but this is what really gets me excited during the holiday season.
