Last week reporter Michael Mishak and I took a three-day trip through rural Nevada with gubernatorial candidate Rory Reid. It was fun and challenging, and I saw more of Nevada than I ever have before. We drove from Reno all the way to Wells on I-80, then down to Ely on U.S. 93 and back west on highway 50, a.k.a. "The Loneliest Road in America." Here are some outtakes from the rural road trip.

The Owl Cafe. Eureka, Nevada.

Food that I couldn't eat. Lovelock, Nevada.

Another Owl Cafe. Battle Mountain, Nevada.

Sturgeon's Restaurant. Lovelock, Nevada.
