My Fat Tuesday 2010 was spent on the Fremont Street Experience, where the drunken hordes from all cultures and nationalities collide. I love Fremont Street. That's all I have to say.

Rural Road Trip

Last week reporter Michael Mishak and I took a three-day trip through rural Nevada with gubernatorial candidate Rory Reid. It was fun and challenging, and I saw more of Nevada than I ever have before. We drove from Reno all the way to Wells on I-80, then down to Ely on U.S. 93 and back west on highway 50, a.k.a. "The Loneliest Road in America." Here are some outtakes from the rural road trip.

A Day in the Studio

Today I spent 12 hours in the photo studio, which is rare me for. It turned out to be nice in more ways than one:
a) It was rainy and cold outside all day, and I was inside.
b) I remembered to bring my iPod, so I could force my own music on others.
c) I was working on a really great project for Las Vegas Weekly's Valentine's issue about everyday vegas couples and love, etc. It was a blast to shoot and I learned a lot of life lessons from the six excellent couples that we shot. Here's an outtake I snapped during one of Trent and Sarah's video interviews...

Tough Boy PDA

I love it when tough boys hug. That's why I was very happy to capture this moment between two Bishop Gorman football players, ecstatic during the national signing day ceremonies at their school. They are headed to UNLV and USC, respectively.

I Love the Bootlegger!

I'd never been in this cute little back party room at the Bootlegger Bistro until tonight, when I came for a Brian Sandoval event. Sandoval's running for Governor. I would love to have a party in here. Great wallpaper.

Out With the Old

A whole block in downtown Las Vegas is being torn down the make way for the new city hall. The Queen of Hearts and Apache Motel signs were taken down today, on their way to the Neon Boneyard, their final resting place. It's sad to see them go. Read and see more in the Las Vegas Sun story.

A Happy Story, For Once

It's nice to work on an upbeat story about good things happening to good people. For this story, reporter Michael Mishak profiled Culinary Union members who used a program through the union to purchase a home. A bright spot in dark times.
